Sustainability Awards reflect innovations in zero-waste initiatives, solar research

The 2026 Pitt Sustainability Awards were presented on April 24, recognizing students, faculty, staff and groups making meaningful contributions to campus sustainability.

This year's ceremony introduced two new award categories, the Regional Campus and Innovation Awards, reflecting the growing reach of sustainability work across Pitt's campuses and community.

Honorees include faculty embedding sustainability into chemistry, Spanish and medical education; staff and students leading zero-waste initiatives, solar research and community engagement; and groups like the PLA Injection Molding Club, whose work made the pins worn by this year’s Sustainability Champions.
