Jay Darr, who came to Pitt in 2019 as the inaugural associate dean of student wellness, is leaving the University in July to accept for a new position as assistant vice president for campus health and wellness at Tulane University in New Orleans.
Since 2025, Darr has been serving as senior strategic advisor to Clyde Pickett, vice chancellor for institutional engagement and wellbeing.
“While I know you will join me in congratulating Jay on taking the next step in his career journey, I also know that we will miss him, and his contributions to Pitt, immensely,” Pickett said. “We say goodbye reluctantly, but wish him all the very best at Tulane.”
Under Darr’s leadership as the inaugural associate dean of student wellness, the University Counseling Center expanded its services to support students more broadly, including beginning the Higher Education Assessment and Response Team (HEART), introducing embedded clinicians in residence halls and two schools, eliminating the counseling center wait times and expanding clinical services.
