Pitt Sustainability will host a Tree Tender Training on June 3, where participants can learn more about trees and how to care for them in Oakland and their home neighborhood.
The Tree Tender course from Tree Pittsburgh teaches about trees in urban environments — collectively termed the urban forest. Specifically, the curriculum covers tree biology and benefits, tree identification for beginners, tree planting, tree care and pruning, and how to get involved in efforts to protect and grow your patch of urban forest.
All Pitt employees and students can become a Tree Tender for free. The session is from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 3 in William Pitt Union, room 548. Registration is required. Lunch will be provided. A small portion of the training will be held outdoors, weather permitting, so please dress accordingly.
