The Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and the College of General Studies held its 2025 Staff Recognition event Sept. 18.
The annual gathering honored colleagues marking milestone anniversaries of service —spanning five to 40 years — as well as recipients of the schools’ highest staff awards.
Awards
Orosz Award: Michele Gavin, Geology and Environmental Science. Established to honor Michael Orosz, a staff member in the Biological Sciences Department who passed away unexpectedly in 2003, this award recognizes staff members in the early stages of their careers who have exhibited excellence in their performance and displayed leadership qualities among their peers.
Dean’s Achievement Award in Mentoring: Marcie Conrad, Office of the Dean, and Heidi Thomas, Advising Center. Recognizes staff members who inspire and bring out the best in others through mentoring and/or coaching colleagues and who foster an environment of collaboration that empowers others to achieve goals.
Dean’s Achievement in Workplace Culture Award: Stacey Adams, Office of the Dean. Recognizes staff members who go beyond expectations to create and support an open, inclusive, and welcoming workplace environment for colleagues.
Dean’s Outstanding Achievement Award: Val Kutchko, Advising Center, and Jeremiah McKain, Office of the Dean. Recognizes staff members who demonstrate a sustained high level of performance, productivity, and excellence in the execution of their job responsibilities and who have made a significant impact on the achievement of departmental or schoolwide goals and objectives.
