Flu vaccines available at clinics and at Hub and Falk Pharmacy

The air is cooling, the leaves are turning and flu shots are popping up everywhere.

Pitt’s annual effort to get faculty and staff, as well as their dependents, vaccinated against the flu starts next week. The clinics also are open to students.

Those with UPMC Health Plan coverage can receive a flu shot at no cost in addition to receiving Health Incentive Reward Dollars for having it done. Those with UPMC coverage also can get flu shots off-campus at participating providers at no out-of-pocket cost. Simply present your UPMC Health Plan member ID card when you receive your flu shot and you will not have to submit any other additional paperwork to the insurer.

Employees without UPMC Health Plan coverage can still receive a flu shot at the clinics, but may have to pay the $45 out-of-pocket cost and seek reimbursement through their health insurer.

Flu shots are available at the Health Sciences’ Vaccination & Health Connection Hub on Fifth Avenue starting next week. The Hub is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are welcome.
