The Pittsburgh and Bradford campuses of Pitt have received funding to continue the federal TRIO program (once announced for cuts in budget proposals), which helps first-generation and low-income students gain community, advising, academic tutoring and more.

The federal Department of Education has awarded the Pittsburgh campus a renewed TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant of $489,444 across five years — the 53rd year for this program on campus, which has helped more than 13,000 students since 1972.

Pitt–Bradford received $286,104 for the TRIO SSS program, which has been offered on this campus for 20 years, aiding more than 1,750 students with college success and entry into their careers.

The Greensburg campus, as a new applicant for TRIO SSS funding, is still awaiting word from the Department of Education about its request.
