Pitt Workplace Survey open to all full- and part-time employees

By now, all full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including union-eligible employees, should have received a personal link, via email, to the 2025 Pitt Workplace Survey, administered by external vendor ModernThink. Survey responses are due by April 14.

The survey, sponsored by the Office of Human Resources and the provost’s office, will confidentially measure employee attitudes about the workplace, establishing a baseline to measure future progress and enabling us to compare our successes and strengths to our peer institutions. It will also provide us data showing the areas where we can aspire to improve.

Its questions cover everything from attitudes toward supervisors and senior leadership to work-life balance issues and benefits awareness. It should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete.

Individual employee responses will remain confidential and private. Only aggregate data will be shared with University leadership. Email addresses can’t be used to track individual responses. The survey will be completed on ModernThink’s private server. The email address is only used to access the survey and to ensure that only one survey is completed per employee. Emails are purged from ModernThink’s system once the survey project has been completed.

Participation is optional, but the more employees who participate will give a fuller and better informed picture of the University. Average response rates for ModernThink surveys range between 40% and 65%.

The survey also aligns with the Plan for Pitt, an HR spokesman said. “One of the pillars of the Plan for Pitt 2028 says ‘We will be welcoming and engaged.’ This survey supports that goal.” One of the key initiatives under that Employer of Choice goal was to launch a new employee engagement survey by 2025.

More information, including a list of frequently asked questions, is available online.

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding the survey and/or the survey process, submit an online inquiry with the Office of Human Resources or contact ModernThink Senior Project Manager Liz Flood at 888-684-4658 or lflood@modernthink.com.
