Homecoming week 2024 is already under way, but there are plenty of activities left on Sept. 20 and 21 to take part in before and after Pitt’s football game against Youngstown State at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at Acrisure Stadium.

I Love Pitt Day: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 20
This all-day event features a Global Food Fest in the William Pitt Union lower lounge, and a Global Craft Fair. There also will be live music, interactive activities from different Pitt departments, a global scavenger hunt and a Pitt-themed raffle. Registration for each respective event can be found at experience.pitt.edu.
Pitt Band’s “The Snake”: 3-3:45 p.m. Sept. 20
The Pitt Band will perform school songs and crowd favorites during the march from William Pitt Union to the Cathedral of Learning, where it will hold a concert.
Welcome Back Reception: Ale to Pitt: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 20
All Pitt alumni are invited to attend the reception in the Cathedral of Learning, which will feature food, a giveaway, beer from alumni brewing partners and admission to the Ale to Pitt alumni beer garden on the outside patio of the Cathedral. Memorabilia and yearbooks also will be on display.
Homecoming Fireworks and Laser Show: 9-9:30 p.m. Sept. 20
The 2024 Homecoming and Fireworks Laser Show, timed to music, will take place on Bigelow Boulevard in front of the Cathedral of Learning.
Building Beloved Community – A Peacebuilding and Nonviolence Workshop: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 21
Join Frederick Honors College and the Center on Race and Social Problems for an engaging workshop focused on the principles and practices of peacebuilding and nonviolence. The event is in the William Pitt Union Assembly Room.
Pitt Community Service Event – 2024 Pittsburgh Garbage Olympics: 10 a.m.-noon, Sept. 21
Meet at Zulema Parklet to help clean up the Oakland neighborhoods. Alumni, families, students, faculty, staff and Oakland residents are all welcome to join and compete for who can pick up the most trash.
Homecoming Tailgate: 12:30-3:30 p.m. Sept. 21
The official Alumni Association Homecoming Tailgate will on the Great Lawn on the North Shore. Payment and registration are required to guarantee a spot. A full meal is included in the price of admission, and adults over 21 years old will receive three drink tickets. Seats are limited, and registration can be found at homecoming.pitt.edu.
Homecoming Showcase with WPTS Radio: 8-10 p.m. Sept. 21
Celebrate 40 years of WPTS-FM at a Homecoming showcase featuring three local Pittsburgh bands on the William Pitt Union Plaza.
