An upcoming training session — Federal Agencies & Research Security: What Pitt Researchers Need to Know — will provide Pitt researchers with an understanding of recent research security actions federal agencies have taken, and how these actions will impact their obligations under federal awards.

The topic of research security has received significant attention during the past two presidential administrations. During this time, the U.S. federal government has released many new and significantly revised requirements aimed at the academic community. These new requirements have come in many different forms, ranging from Presidential Memorandums like NSPM-33 to new laws such as the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022.

As the research security topic continues to evolve, it is important that the research community understands how new federal laws and directives will affect Pitt’s research environment, particularly when foreign engagements are involved.
