Mega Surround Sound Bath coming to Heinz Chapel Jan. 12

Violinist Monique Mead, associate teaching professor and director of music entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University, will be joined by 15 professional musicians and sound practitioners for a Mega Surround Sound Bath on Jan. 12 for at Heinz Chapel.

The immersive soundscape — dedicated to promoting peace in the New Year — will include more than 60 singing bowls blending with the melodies of violin, harp and flute.

Those in attendance are invited to stretch out on a pew, gaze up at the stained glass windows, and absorb the healing sounds. You can bring your own blanket and comfort items.

The event from 3 to 4:30 p.m. is free for Pitt students; $10 for Pitt faculty and staff; $20 for general admission. Register or get tickets at the Heinz Chapel website.
