Several Pitt programs ranked highly in the U.S. News and World Report’s 2025 Best Graduate Schools rankings, which were released April 8.
The schools of the health sciences were particularly well-represented on the list, including No. 2 for nurse anesthesia and No. 3 for occupational therapy.
Here is a breakdown of all the Pitt programs, by school, that ranked in the top 50 in the most recent list:
Nursing
Overall the Doctor of Nursing program ranked 12th
Nursing anesthesia: 2nd
Nurse practitioner program in psychiatric mental health: 5th
Nursing midwifery: 26th
Health and Rehabilitation Sciences
Occupational therapy: 3rd
Speech-language pathology: 5th
Audiology: 5th
Physical therapy: 9th
Physician assistant: 26th (a jump from its prior ranking at 50th)
Public Health
The School of Public Health ranked 16th overall and had several other graduate programs in the top 20:
Health Care Management (Master of Health Administration program from the Department of Health Policy and Management): 12th
Biostatistics (Biostatistics and Health Data Science): 13th
Epidemiology and Environmental Health Sciences (Department of Environmental and Occupational Health): 15th for both
Health Policy and Management: 18th
Medicine
In schoolwide medical school rankings, which are now organized by tier rather than being ranked individually, Pitt earned a Tier 1 ranking for research, putting it in the top 16 schools nationally.
Swanson School of Engineering
The University’s engineering programs also earned strong placements, with an overall ranking at 43rd and 24th among public schools.

Business
Pitt’s part-time MBA program was ranked 36th, with overall business programs increasing to 46th.
Public and International Affairs
The School of Public and International Affairs was ranked 34th and was the top-ranked public schools for International Global Policy and Administration and 6th overall. The school also ranked highly in Urban Policy (16th) and Public Policy Analysis (31st).
Education
The School of Education ranked 35th, with Educational Psychology at 23rd
Law
The School of Law climbed 12 positions to 79th, with Health Care Law at 34th and Tax Law at 35th. The school has also seen at 57% increase in applications.
