2027 Chancellor's Distinguished Awards
Nominations are open through Oct. 16 for awards recognizing excellence among Pitt faculty members at the University of Pittsburgh.
Any faculty member who has served at Pitt for at least three years is eligible for Chancellor’s Distinguished Awards in teaching, research and public service. Each awardee receives a cash prize of $2,000 and a grant of $3,000 to support their teaching, research or service activities.
Nominations for the Chancellor’s Distinguished Research Award and the Chancellor’s Distinguished Public Service Award can be submitted online (see posted guidelines for instructions). To nominate a faculty member for the Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award, read the Distinguished Teaching Award guidelines.
These awards are open to faculty members at all University schools and campuses.
Provost’s Awards
The Office of the Provost is accepting nominations for its 22nd Provost’s Award for Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring, as well as a new award: the Provost’s Award for Experiential Learning and Impact.
The Doctoral Mentoring Award annually recognizes up to four outstanding faculty mentors who have had the greatest impact on students who are seeking research doctorate degrees. Each award includes a cash prize of $2,500 and public recognition.
The newly launched Provost’s Award for Experiential Learning and Impact will annually recognize outstanding achievement in the design, implementation and assessment of experiential learning opportunities that support students in making meaningful impacts on themselves, their professions and their communities. Up to five recipients may be selected, with each receiving a $2,500 cash prize.
Nominations for both awards are due by Oct. 16. Eligibility details and nomination guidelines and instructions are available on the awards pages linked above.
Honorific awards training
For faculty who are looking for support in achieving these and other awards, now or in the future, consider the Honorific Awards Training Course. This workshop for Pitt faculty is designed to provide an in-depth overview of the tactics and strategies to help win honorific awards. Completing the course provides a foundation for entering not only the awards above but a host of other awards channels. And if you feel the timing isn’t right for you this year, use this information to plan ahead for next year’s call for nominations for these awards.
Awards will be presented at the 2027 Faculty Honors Convocation.
