Let nature kindle your creativity on “Bring Your Leaf to Work Day,” from 4 to 5:30 p.m. July 1, in the Hillman Library Text & conText Lab.
Using just ink and a Gelli plate, learn to create vibrant, unique art that highlights the textures and organic shapes of leaves and other natural elements.
Whether you're an experienced artist or just looking for a way to unwind, this workshop is designed to be both relaxing and inspiring. William Gillis from the Center for Creativity will guide you through the process of making monoprints with plenty of time to experiment.
Forget to bring a leaf? No problem! There will be some to borrow.
Come solo or bring a friend, and leave with a new skill, a fresh perspective, and some beautiful prints to take home or display at your desk.
On July 10, the Center for Creativity will host “Scrapbook for the Soul” from 1 to 2 p.m. at the C4C Workshop on the lower level of the University Store on Fifth.
Unwind, connect with other Pitt makers, and craft a journal filled with your favorite memories at this laid-back workshop dedicated to helping you recharge your creativity.
Small, pamphlet-style journals and supplies, including paper ephemera like sheet music, magazines and wallpaper samples, will be provided. Bring your own mementos: photos, ticket stubs, postcards, or other paper treasures you've collected.
No experience needed! Just bring yourself and some treasured scraps. The session will be facilitated by Ariel Skovera of the Center for Creativity.
