Pitt's Office of Student Employment has created a number of best practices and reminders to ensure a positive, seamless experience for both student and employer.
For your convenience, these tips and best practices are broken down by category:
Remote work and remote I-9 forms
Unless a student has been previously approved, remote work is not permitted. Similarly, remote I-9 forms will only be processed when they're essential for ensuring workers are hired in a timely manner.
Post-Graduation
- Students who have graduated cannot be hired for a new or additional assignment and may continue only in their current role (no new job postings or transfers).
- Employment for April graduates must be terminated by Aug. 31. Please initiate the Voluntary Termination process in PittWorx.
Hour Limits
- Students are generally restricted to 20 hours of work per week while classes are in session. During summer and breaks, they can work up to 40 hours per week.
- Monday, Aug. 25, 2025 — Fall semester begins.
- Please refer to the Academic Calendar for important upcoming dates.
Requisitions
- Requisitions cannot be transferred between fiscal years.
- Duplicate Function in Talent Center should not be used.
- Avoid start dates more than six weeks in advance.
