Health plan enrollment open for grad, pre-, postdoc fellows

The annual enrollment period for undergraduate and graduate student and pre- and postdoctoral fellows to enroll in University-sponsored health plans for the 2025-26 plan year is now open through Sept. 30.

The Medical Plan is available to:

  • Full-time undergraduate students

  • Full-time and part-time graduate students without an academic appointment

  • Full-time and part-time graduate students with an academic appointment (GSA, GSR, TA, TF) and pre-doctoral fellows and certificate trainees (as defined in University policy)

  • Post-doctoral fellows and health science fellows

The plans remain the same as last year, although the premiums are going up roughly 15% for undergraduate students and graduate students without an academic appointment. Costs do not change for all others.

Many graduate students with academic appointments are part of the bargaining unit for the new Graduate Works Union represented by the United Steelworkers. The union is currently negotiating its first contract and is in a status quo period.

Enrolling in student medical, dental and vision coverage is handled through a third party administrator, BenefitSolver. All eligible students should receive enrollment instructions via email directly from BenefitSolver.

This is the only time to enroll. Student coverage does not automatically continue each academic year. Re-enrollment is required every fall to maintain active coverage. All coverage ends Aug. 31 without re-enrollment.
