Pitt Football announced this week that there would be no general public sale of single game tickets to the Backyard Brawl on Sept. 14 at Acrisure Stadium, with the Panthers taking on the West Virginia Mountaineers at 3:30 p.m.
The 2022 Backyard Brawl, which revived the tradition after an 11-year pause, set a record for attendance at Acrisure Stadium/Heinz Field of 70,622 (published capacity is 68,400). Last year’s game in Morgantown had 61,106 fans descending on a stadium with a 60,000-person capacity.
The teams have split the two games since the rivalry resumed, with Pitt winning in 2022 and WVU in 2023.
Because of the high demand for tickets, Pitt is only making the single games tickets available to season ticket or mini-season package holders or through group sales. Season tickets range from $175 to $360, plus required donations of $35 to $620. Mini-season plans of three games start at $65.
Panther Club members also will have a shot at buying Backyard Brawl tickets when they go on sale July 25. Panther Club membership levels range from $50 to $10,000 annually.
