A play inspired by the writer’s research within the University Library System’s August Wilson Archive will get a reading on March 10 in the Dr. Vernell Lillie Theatre at City Theatre.

“Birthday at Tiffany’s,” by local playwright Christine Bethea, uses comedy, laughter and fun to address issues of race, privilege and belonging. Bethea is a recipient of the August Wilson Archive Community Artist Scholar Award, which provides support and incentives for local artists to explore the August Wilson Archive and create an artistic/creative work to share with the community.

The event, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m., will feature a live play reading directed by Maurice Redwood and starring local actors. The theater is located at 1300 Bingham St. on Pittsburgh’s South Side.
