Melanie Scott elected Senate Council secretary

Melanie Scott, associate professor of surgery in the School of Medicine, was elected as Senate Council secretary in voting in April.

In addition, 18 new or returning members were elected to Faculty Assembly.

“As you know, Melanie is a tireless advocate for shared governance and has been working hard for the Senate for a long, long time,” Senate President Kris Kanthak said at the April 23 Senate meeting. “I'm really excited for the opportunity to get to work more closely with Melanie.”

At the same time, Kanthak said she’s saving a true goodbye for the final Senate Council meeting of the academic year on May 21 for Penny Morel, “who has been a fabulous Senate secretary.”
