Christopher Tamanini will take over as director of compensation in the Office of Human Resources, effective March 30, 2026

In this role, Tamanini will oversee the daily operations of the Compensation Department and lead a range of strategic compensation initiatives, including compensation modernization.

He will collaborate closely with University leadership and Human Resources to develop, implement, and sustain compensation policies and practices that support the University’s mission and institutional priorities, according to an HR news release.

Tamanini brings more than 25 years of progressive experience in human resources leadership, including at BNY Mellon, UPMC, Stanford Health Care in California, and most recently as director of compensation for Pittsburgh Regional Transit.

He holds a law degree and MBA from Duquesne University, as well as certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. Tamanini lives in Zelienople, with his wife and three children.

Tamanini replaces Maureen Pastin, who came to Pitt in 2022 and left last year.
