No more donations being accepted to sick day bank

Pitt staff employees can no longer donate time to the voluntary sick day bank created last year as a response to the pandemic. However, individuals will still be able to request sick time from the bank should they need it.

The bank, announced in April 2020, provided the opportunity for full- and part-time regular staff employees to make a one-time donation to or request additional sick time from the bank.

In total, more than 18,000 hours of sick time have been donated to the bank. As of Nov. 1, 2021, more than 1,800 hours of sick time have been utilized by 40 individuals at the University.

The sick day bank will be regularly reviewed to assess the level of available hours, according to an announcement from Human Resources. If necessary, the sick day bank may be reopened to accept donations again in the future.
