Form a trivia team to compete in a new ‘City Game’

Want to be a part of the “City Game” against Duquesne University? Then sharpen up your trivia skills for the Pittsburgh City Game Virtual Trivia Bowl — a fundraiser to benefit the United Way.

The men’s basketball teams from Pitt and Duquesne had played the City Game annually since 1969 until the 2019-20 season, and the series actually started in 1932. The 2020-21 season marks the second consecutive year with no men’s basketball City Game (the women’s teams continue to compete).

Faculty and staff can pick up the tradition with the “Trivia Bowl” fundraiser to benefit United Way. Teams of three to five faculty or staff must register by Jan. 20; the cost is $25 per team. Each university will hold multiple rounds of elimination-style matches during the week of Jan. 25, and the top two teams will be combined to represent each university in the final event.

The final game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Feb. 4 and will be broadcast live on YouTube.

Teams can register online. A basket raffle also is taking place, tickets are available here.
