Deadline extended for 2022 Diversity Forum proposals

The deadline to submit virtual workshop proposals for the University of Pittsburgh’s 2022 Diversity Forum has been extended to May 13.

All members of the Pitt community and community at-large can submit an idea. Proposals can be submitted here.  The Diversity Forum will be from July 25 to 28. It has be held online since 2020 and has attracted thousands of participants in the past two years. It is free and open to the public.

The 2022 Diversity Forum, titled “Rewiring Our Systems: Transforming the Intersections of Inequity,” will focus on engaging the intersections of social identities impacted by systemic oppression.

The forum, through featured programs and community-led sessions and presentations, hopes to foster the development of both social equity consciousness and the systems-thinking approaches needed to effectively address systemic inequities.

Workshop proposal guidelines:

  • Workshops should be formatted for virtual presentation

  • Workshops should run for 60 to 75 minutes including Q&A

  • Proposals should align with the forum's aim and objectives as detailed above

Questions can be directed to diversity@pitt.edu.

Art of Diversity

In conjunction with the 2022 Diversity Forum, the Pitt’s Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and the Center for Creativity will present the third annual Art of Diversity Showcase.

All members of the Pitt and regional communities are invited to submit creative work of any kind, from visual art to writing to performance that expand diversity consciousness, particularly an awareness and understanding of intersectionality, and that embrace and celebrate minoritized cultures and perspectives.

Work will be displayed on the Showcase gallery, and on University web and social media channels, with artist attribution. Deadline for submissions is July 1, 2022.

All entries are eligible for award distinctions. Awardees will be announced during the Diversity Forum.
