Pitt makes Forbes list of top 500 best employers in U.S.

The University of Pittsburgh was ranked 212 in the top 500 list for America’s Best Employers in 2022, published by Forbes.

The lists are compiled using data that Forbes collects in partnership with market research company Statista, which surveyed 60,000 Americans who work at companies with more than 1,000 employees.

At the Feb. 23 Senate Council meeting, Chancellor Patrick Gallagher said, “As great as that is, what I’m most excited about is with all the improvements that are underway through our Plan for Pitt, we're going to continue to move up that list and get into those top 100 categories.”

Several universities are included in the list, including Yale at 12th and the University of Michigan at 16th. Overall, the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania took the top ranking.

The survey was conducted anonymously, and respondents rated their employers on a scale of one to 10 as to how likely they would be to recommend their company. Companies were also rated on factors like working conditions, diversity, equity and inclusion, development opportunities and compensation. See the full list.
