Earlier this month, Pitt Information Technology announced and rolled-out an enhanced IT Services Portal to the University community. The mobile-friendly tool — integrated with and accessible from the existing Information Technology website — is designed to make your life easier in three key areas: Identifying all services available through Pitt IT, accessing self-help options, and submitting and tracking support requests.

Services: Your tech directory

Under the Services menu, you’ll discover a comprehensive directory of more than 80 offerings neatly organized into 10 categories. Whether you’re looking for how to get Microsoft Teams, curious about available analytics tools, or browsing to see what software titles are available to you as a faculty or staff member, you can search, learn about and request services in one convenient place.

Knowledge base: Your source for how-to information

If you’re more of a DIYer-type when it comes to tech, the Knowledge Base is your go-to for how-to. It’s filled with help articles, step-by-step guides, and other self-service resources for all your IT support needs. Simply choose “How-To Articles” under the Support menu on the Technology site to find articles and get quick answers. Need help connecting to the PittNet VPN? There’s an article for that!

Ticketing: Submit and track support requests

You’ll find more than just help articles under the Support menu on the Pitt IT home page. This is also the place for getting in touch with the 24/7 IT Help Desk via chat, a phone call, or submitting a request form through the portal. The help desk will create a ticket, generating an email to you with a link to track your ticket’s progress and communicate directly with the support team.

The IT Services Portal is powered by TeamDynamix, a web-based platform used by many top colleges and universities for IT service management. The portal includes a dedicated search bar to make it easier to find basic service and support information. What’s more, results can be filtered and displayed by content type.

Pitt IT designed the portal based on extensive feedback from focus groups with students, faculty, and staff throughout Pitt. Thanks to all those who took part in those efforts, we’re confident that these valuable insights will result in an improved user experience.

If you haven’t tried the portal yet, you’ll find links throughout the Pitt IT website at technology.pitt.edu.
