Provost’s Diversity Institute for faculty offering online workshop

The Provost’s Diversity Institute for Faculty Development, like most of Pitt’s summer activities, is moving online for 2020.

The program, run by the Center for Teaching and Learning, was started in 2015 to help faculty increase awareness about diversity and develop skills needed to teach in a diverse, multicultural environment.

This year’s institute includes two Extended Diversity Poster Presentations — one which was held May 13 and another from 2 to 3 p.m. May 20 — and a workshop on “Creating Accessible Courses for Remote Learning” at 10:30 a.m. May 27.

The one-hour workshop focuses on issues of digital accessibility that are even more crucial with online learning. The sessions will help participants identify key concepts in digital accessibility; recognize the barriers inaccessible content creates for students in remote learning environments; implement practical solutions to accessibility issues in their courses; and find motivation to create a more accessible classroom.

All the events will be conducted on Zoom. Registration is required; find links on the University Events Calendar. Contact workshops@teaching.pitt.edu for any questions.
