Revealing the Charles “Teenie” Harris Photo Archive
4-6 p.m. April 19, William Pitt Union, Lower Lounge

The Charles “Teenie” Harris photo archive at Carnegie Museum of Art is unsurpassed in the range of subjects it portrays, the spirit of the era it evokes and the humanity of people it portrays. As the community archivist of the collection, Charlene Foggie-Barnett is tasked with the highest level of interaction with the populace from which the photos were derived – Pittsburgh’s African-American community. Foggie-Barnett will present Harris’ personal history and how it led to his dynamic 40-plus years of professional photojournalism. The talk will include hidden figures and revelations of little-known Pittsburgh ingenuity, and will divulge impressive secrets about the unprecedented career of “One Shot” Harris. This talk is sponsored by the Bernadette Callery Archives Lecture Series at the School of Computing and Information.   RSVP here to join in-person for the talk, with a reception to follow, or online via Zoom.
