Sodexo sues Pitt for $7 million

Pitt’s former food service contractor for students, Sodexo Operations LLC, is suing Pitt in federal court, alleging that the University owes it $7 million for previous services.

According to multiple media reports, Sodexo alleges that, in following a Pitt request to buy and store more food supplies and have workers on hand in March 2020, to cover the early part of the pandemic at the Pittsburgh and Johnstown campuses, it incurred expenses unnecessarily, since students were subsequently told not to return to campus.

Sodexo’s contract with Pitt expired on June 30, 2020.

University spokesperson David Seldin said he could make no comment on this pending litigation.
