Mascaro Center offering grants to faculty and students

Applications are open for four 2023 grant programs sponsored by he Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation. Each of these programs helps faculty and students engage in sustainability research, education and outreach. 

MCSI Research Seed Grants in Sustainability (open to all Pitt faculty): The goals of the grants are to: Catalyze the formation of interdisciplinary synergistic research teams focused on sustainability; fund projects capable of obtaining external funding upon completion; enhance Pitt’s national recognition in sustainability and the visibility of interdisciplinary sustainability research and education on campus.  Application deadline: Feb. 24, 2023. Full RFP and application

The John C. Mascaro Faculty Programs in Sustainability (open to all Pitt faculty): These fellowships are designed to enhance the University’s mission of interdisciplinary excellence in sustainability research and education. Application deadline: Feb. 24, 2023. Full RFP and application

Student Group Grants: Led by the Pitt Green Fund, student applications will be reviewed collaboratively between the Green Fund, the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation, and the Pitt Office of Sustainability. Applicants may be eligible for sole or collaborative funding from these sources based on project type and details. The Green Fund reviews project applications every Sunday night until the end of the Spring Semester. Eligible applications will be reviewed by the Mascaro Center and Office of Sustainability on a rolling basis following the applicants meeting with the Green Fund. Application deadline: Proposals reviewed with a rolling deadline. Application link

MCSI Undergraduate Summer Research in Sustainability (open to all Pitt undergraduate students): The goal of this program is to provide students with unique opportunities to go beyond classroom curriculum and develop their own ideas on hands-on research while working under the guidance and mentorship of Pitt faculty. At this time, we are looking for faculty and staff across the University who are interested in serving as an advisor to a summer research student. Faculty advisor applications due Nov. 19  Advisor applications here.
