Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service events postponed

Both the in-person Day of Service and the social justice symposium that were planned to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 17 have been postponed because the current shelter-in-place policy on the Oakland campus.

Because of the increasing COVID-19 case numbers, Pitt issued the directive for students to shelter in place until at least Jan. 26. This will allow students to move back to campus on a phased schedule through Jan. 22 and have five days where they will limit contact with others after they arrive.

This year’s Day of Service will be rescheduled for later in the spring semester. All inquiries can be sent to serves@pitt.edu.

The Martin Luther King Social Justice Symposium, themed Walking the Tightrope: Balancing Marginalization and Privileged Identities, also will be rescheduled for later this semester.
