Heinz Memorial Chapel is celebrating Women’s History Month with special tours highlighting women depicted in the 73-foot stained glass transept windows, including Abigail Adams, Joan of Arc, Clara Barton and more.

These windows show an equal number of men and women who embody the virtues of Courage, Tolerance, Temperance and Truth. The tour will focus on a selection of the 36 women who were chosen by a 1934 university committee based on their significant intellectual and spiritual contributions.

The Pitt Women’s Affinity Group will have a special private tour from noon to 1 p.m. March 12. Register here.

The 30-minute tours will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays in March at noon. No reservation is required except for large groups. Admission is free, donations are welcome. Other times are available upon request by calling the chapel office at 412-624-4157.
