Get rolling for Bike to Work Day on May 17

There’s still time to plan your route to work for the annual Pittsburgh Bike to Work Day on May 17.

And once you get to Oakland, head to the pop-up Commuter Cafe from 7 to 10 a.m. in Schenley Plaza, sponsored by Pitt, BikePGHHealthy Ride and other community partners. It will feature breakfast snacks, coffee, information and bike safety demonstrations.

BikePGH has some tips on How to Plan Your Bike Route and How to Stay Fresh for Work. If you don’t have a bike the Healthy Ride equipment will be free all day. There are several bike stations in Oakland and throughout Pittsburgh; check the map to see where bikes are available.

You can find a place to stow your bike on the Oakland campus through the online bike rack locator map, and the Pitt Bike Cave offers cyclists tips on how to fix their equipment with tools the University provides. Read more about the University’s biking resources and get tips for biking to work at the Pitt Sustainability and Parking, Transportation and Services websites.
