It’s still technically summer, but we’re about to enter the most dreaded of seasons — flu season.
Free flu shots will be available to all Pitt faculty and staff who have UPMC Health Plan coverage, either at campus clinics or at several off-campus locations. Those getting the shot also will receive a $15 Wellness Incentive credit.
Everyone is encouraged to get a flu shot, but particularly those who work in health sciences or have any type of exposure to patients.
Faculty and staff must have their UPMC Health Plan card (or member ID, if accessing this information from a phone) when attending a flu shot clinic.

Off-campus flu shots
UPMC Health Plan members may obtain a flu shot from a participating provider at no out-of-pocket cost. Members also may obtain a flu shot with no out-of-pocket cost at CVS Minute Clinic, Giant Eagle or Rite Aid pharmacies. You must present your UPMC Health Plan member ID card at the time you receive your flu shot and you will not have to submit a receipt or any other additional paperwork.
If you obtain a flu shot at a clinic or pharmacy that does not participate with UPMC Health Plan, then you will need to pay for the flu shot at the time of service and file a claim for reimbursement.
